Wounded 19 September 1863, Chickamauga, Georgia. Acting brigade commander from 25 November 1863. Promoted Brigader General 29 February 1864. Killed in action 30 November 1864, Franklin, Tennesse.

WILLIAM LEWIS MOODY

29 Feb 1864 – summer 1864

Acted only on paper as he was on sick leave in Texas the whole time. Did not get well and resigned in 1864.

Promoted from Captain of Company D 29 August 1862. Sick leave in Texas from December1863 due to asthma.Did not get well and resigned 11 June 1864.


Capt. John W. Brown (Co. I) was designated to take over as Lieutenant Colonel and later Colonel in place of Moody, but his appointment was never confirmed by the War Department. Similarly, Capt. Edward T. Broughton (Co. C) was recommended for Major and afterwards Lieutenant Colonel, but received no official commission.
